Milestones

One morning I woke up and saw pink shining in through the bedroom curtains.
I got that spooky, eerie feeling so went out to see if the world was ending.
Of course it wasn't.
Just a pretty sky.

The next day I woke up and it was deja vu.
No scary things happening, just another pretty morning.

And another!
I waited each day for a thunderstorm that the old rhyme prophecised;
'Red sky in the morning, a Shepherds warning,
Red sky at night, a Shepherds delight'.
But the storm I long for didn't arrive.
Though it was nice to wake up to a pretty start of day.

A good start to the day is important.
Too often I wake up cranky, tired, dragging my feet wishing the 3 day weekend revolution was in action.
But some days I am motivated, excited and energised.
So I do little homely things that bring my grumpy heart some peace.
I bake scones and pile on strawberries and whipped cream!

I try new recipes.
Like cheese and bacon cob loaf that Elvis and I tried to eat in one, then two sittings.
Not a good idea for such rich food!

Baking has come to a stop for a small time while I...
*drumrollll*
GET MY NEW KITCHEN INSTALLED!!
Just a little bit excited!!
My poor old kitchen that served us well has been pulled out for retirement and my plans are in action for the new one.
It has been a loud mess for the last few days and I am looking forward to a homecooked meal that wasn't prepared in the microwave.
While all the tradies have been working so hard to get the job done I have stayed out from under their feet by working on the gypsy blanket and guess what...
*drumrolllll*

IT'S FINISHED!!!
And can you believe it fits our new king bed?!
I thought I was pushing it to fit our old queen!
I used all of my old balls of wool, some given to my from my Nanna when I was learning to crochet at 11 years old!

There is so much sentiment and love it this.
It is my biggest crochet accomplishment (and heaviest!) and I couldn't be prouder.

I do wish I could remember the exact year I started but I think it must've been around 2010, making this nearly ten years in the making!!

I just hope it doesn't fall apart!
It is oerfect for snuggling under at night and getting stuck into a book.
I've just started reading the Flowers in the Attic series by Virginia Andrews.
A few weeks back I caught about half an hour of the midday movie on TV but missed the ending and needed closure so of course, I googled it, and found that it was based on another novel by Virginia Andrews, My Sweet Audrina. I immediately bought a copy of the book and loved every page but am glad to have seen a snippet of the movie otherwise the book would've been almost too crazy-far-fetched.

We often get a flock of Carnaby Cockatoos fly around town, sometimes the visit my yard, but I usually hear them at the park around the corner, making a mess of the tuart trees.
I always run outside when I hear them flying over and managed to snap this picture the other day.
I counted over a hundred in this picture.
They sound like monkeys, squawking and carrying on as they fly, and chatter to each other when perched on the tops of the highest trees.

Today the sun is out, not much breeze but still quite cool.
I am contemplating washing our pooch but maybe between the cool air and my laziness, we should wait for another day ;)
